I'm with Hawks--we tried voice for the first time last night, and while it was cool to hear some friends' voices for the first time, it was certainly NOT cool to hear the loser geek dude trying to impress the ladies with his technological prowess, cutting everybody off, not knowing when to shut the hell up. I fear SL is already attractive to people who have shit social skills in RL, so why do I want to have to deal with them recreationally? That said, I will use it on occasion with smaller groups of people I like, I'm sure. And I'll be singing television theme songs from the 80's the entire time.
Diff' Strokes, folks.

I have heard horror stories about Ahern - in that it is way too crazy and crowded. You need to find smaller groups of people testing it - much better. Although, those people who are so full of themselves will still end up finding you. Hawks is right - Mute will be your friend. It's good with friends, but maybe not so much with crowds of strangers.

Great reporting, guys!!!! Keep the vidcasts coming :-)

Omg that was awesome, but your right ..I did a post straight after it was on the beta grid because it freaked me the hell out , I went there with a friend and I was giggling and trying to work out why the hell the talk button is locked as default meaning if your trying to get your shit together everyone hears you immediatly that was nothing though , after a few minutes Fia went afk and a guy came over to me and was on voice and as soon as I heard his all too familiar sleazy "I voice chat on other programs' voice I was against it , I dont want to have guys coming up to me without having any control over what I have to listen to , typing I can ignore but in my ears someone saying something or alluding to it is too much , and that isnt even the worst case scenario , griefing potential is huge and no records to show in abuse reports , as well as in a work situation an irate customer deciding that they will attack you verbaly is not something I want to deal with , the text attacks are bad enough and so on returning to the main grid I sent my bosses a IM and we wont be allowing voice on the island YAY lol your report was awesome both of you so articulate and the lipsyncing was superb lol you need to teach some entertainers how to do that properly lol

You guys rock! Great job with that. While I am excited about the feature for work related interactions, I doubt I will use it much at Parties or hanging out.
