This is the new release from Last Call called Marlene from the Catwalk Collection. Ginny Talamasca has been working the Runway with these latest releases (Catwalk Collection & Catwalk Collection II). Out of both releases this is the only one I bought. It's prettiful and oooo the Olive trim is delicious. This is a workable-realish outfit and I would NOT associate it with couture (to my definition) or runway fashion. It's elegant & delightful.

I have to admit the word "couture" makes me throw up a little. It makes me think of little children working in sweat shops with poor blistered fingers, dirty faces & low wages. To quote Laylah, "...the stuff in SL isn't real couture, It's a fluff-screen to make us feel special and a-list to make up for our walmart-shopping stay-at-home-mother RL." Yah, and I'm sure the Lu sisters don't run a sweat shop. :) Anywho the word 'couture' is causing acid reflux. The end.
Last Call is style - elegance - grace.

Off the rack and factory-made clothing also comes from sweatshops; the nine worst offenders before 2000 were: Disney, Esprit, Guess?, J.C. Penney, K-Mart, Nike, Wal-Mart, Victoria's Secret, and the May Company. Hardly couture. There's also Fruit of the Loom, the Gap, Hanes, so much more. The only reason couture has been spotlighted is that it's somehow more offensive to the sensibilities of the public to think of high fashion being produced in such conditions. Most couture brands have their own ateliers and produce their clothing there. Not to say that couture houses aren't guilty of that, but the way you phrased that made it look like it's exclusive to couture, which it is not. Also the definition of couture as being custom-made for a select few is nearly obsolete. I like how Alber Elbaz put it: that couture is innovation. There are designers in SL who use the term indiscriminately, that's for sure, but I wouldn't generalize and say that something isn't couture when it very well could be translated into a couture design if it were in rl, especially when these designs meet the standards for craftsmanship and quality that exemplify haute couture. I do agree that most designers in SL need to innovate more on their own to be properly called a couture label.
